Horse Showing
Prepare for the Show Ring with Confidence at Four Willows Farm
At Four Willows Farm, we offer structured horse showing support and competition training for riders ready to take their skills to the next level. Whether you're entering your first local event or refining techniques for regional shows, our instructors provide the guidance, coaching, and preparation needed for success in and out of the ring.
Located in Greenwood, Indiana, our private farm offers the ideal environment for focused training and show readiness. We work with youth and adult riders in hunter, jumper, and equitation disciplines, helping each student set goals and build a solid foundation for performance.
Equestrian Show Preparation and Coaching
Our horse showing program combines advanced instruction with the technical and mental preparation needed for competitive riding. Riders work closely with our experienced trainer to develop a show-ready mindset, polish their riding skills, and prepare for the unique challenges of competition.
Our program includes:
- Flatwork and jumping refinement
- Show etiquette and ring awareness
- Pattern memorization and timing
- Mental focus and performance mindset
- Horse and tack preparation
- Support at local and regional horse shows

We tailor each rider’s show plan based on their discipline, goals, and experience. From the first schooling show to more advanced competitive events, we offer the instruction and structure to help riders feel prepared and confident.
Who Can Join Our Horse Showing Program?
We welcome both youth and adult riders who:
- Have a solid foundation in basic riding skills
- Are comfortable riding at the walk, trot, and canter
- Are interested in competing in hunter/jumper or equitation
- Are currently enrolled in our riding lesson program
- Want to develop strong horsemanship and showmanship skills

Participation in shows is not required, but many of our students enjoy the opportunity to challenge themselves, gain feedback, and celebrate their progress in a show setting.
Support at Every Stage of Your Show Journey
For new competitors, we offer full support throughout the show experience — from understanding what to expect at the event to walking through each step of the warm-up and competition. Our trainer is present for coaching, prep, and guidance, helping riders stay calm, organized, and focused on their ride.
For experienced riders, we provide advanced instruction and show coaching to refine performance, improve consistency, and meet higher-level goals.

We believe that horse showing should be a positive, growth-oriented experience for every rider. Our approach emphasizes sportsmanship, responsibility, and steady progress, with a focus on both technical improvement and personal development.
Showing With Our Horses
We have a limited number of lesson horses available for showing. These horses are well-schooled, calm, and capable in the ring. Riders are matched with appropriate horses based on their skill level and show goals.

We also offer show support for students who are leasing or riding their own horse, including transportation coordination, coaching, and ring-side guidance.
A Safe and Encouraging Show Environment
Horse showing can be exciting, rewarding, and at times a bit overwhelming — especially for new riders. That’s why we foster a low-pressure, encouraging approach to competition. We help riders focus on doing their best, learning from each experience, and enjoying the process of growth.

We also work closely with families to ensure they feel informed and supported during show preparation. From understanding attire and tack to coordinating travel and schedules, we make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Show Opportunities and Schedule
We participate in a variety of schooling shows and local competitions throughout the year, offering riders a range of show experiences. These may include:
- In-barn schooling shows
- Local hunter/jumper competitions
- Regional equestrian events
- Exhibition or showcase rides
We help each rider choose events that are appropriate for their current level and offer a manageable, confidence-building path forward.
