Whether your child is brand new to horseback riding or already taking lessons, our camp programs are structured to support growth, learning, and fun — all under the guidance of experienced, caring instructors and calm, well-trained horses.

What Makes Our Horse Camp Special

Four Willows Farm is more than just a riding school — it's a place where children feel welcome, supported, and inspired. Our horse camps combine structured lessons with hands-on horse care activities, allowing campers to connect with animals and deepen their understanding of what it means to be a responsible rider.

We keep our camp group sizes small so that each camper receives individual attention and instruction appropriate to their age and experience level.

Campers enjoy:

  • Daily riding instruction
  • Horse grooming and tack care
  • Basic horsemanship lessons
  • Barn chores and horse handling
  • Games and group activities
  • Outdoor time in a peaceful, private farm setting

We focus on building respect, responsibility, and teamwork through horse-centered experiences.

Designed for Young Riders

Our horse camps are open to:

  • Kids ages 6 and up
  • Beginner and intermediate riders
  • Returning lesson students and first-time campers
  • For ages 3-6, half day camps for the younger riders, parents may stay

Camp sessions are tailored to the comfort and experience level of each child. New riders are gently introduced to the basics of horse care and riding, while more experienced riders continue to build their skills with guided instruction and more advanced activities.

Our calm and gentle horses are carefully chosen to work well with children and newer riders. Helmets and gloves are provided, and all campers are supervised at all times by qualified staff.

What Campers Will Learn

Each camp session includes a mix of learning and play. Campers will be introduced to:

  • Safe horse handling and barn behavior
  • How to groom and care for a horse
  • Parts of the horse and basic anatomy
  • Tacking and untacking
  • Riding fundamentals (mounting, balance, posture, steering)
  • Groundwork and leading exercises
  • How to read horse body language
  • Responsibility and safety around animals

Learning is interactive, and no prior riding experience is required.

A Typical Day at Camp

While every day includes a variety of activities, a typical day at horse camp might look like:

  • Morning greetings and barn walk-through
  • Grooming and prepping horses for riding
  • Riding lesson or arena exercises
  • Break for snacks and group games
  • Horse-related crafts or learning activities
  • Afternoon horse care and wrap-up

We make sure each day is balanced with activity and rest, fun and learning. Campers leave each session with new knowledge, new friendships, and a sense of pride in their accomplishments.

Safe, Supervised, and Supportive

Safety is our top priority. Every camper is given clear instructions on how to interact with horses safely and respectfully. Our staff is trained in riding instruction, child supervision, and equine safety. We maintain a calm, encouraging environment where every camper can thrive.

We also make sure parents feel confident in the experience. If you’re new to horseback riding programs, we’re happy to talk through any questions or concerns you have about our camp schedule, facilities, or safety policies.
