Learn to Ride with Confidence at Four Willows Farm
Whether you're stepping into the saddle for the first time or refining your technique after years of experience, Four Willows Farm offers personalized horseback riding lessons in Greenwood, Indiana. Our lessons are designed for riders of all ages and backgrounds — from young beginners to adults returning to the sport.
With expert instruction, calm and well-trained horses, and a safe, supportive environment, we help each student progress at their own pace. Riding lessons at Four Willows Farm go beyond technique. We teach students how to truly connect with the horse, develop solid riding habits, and build confidence that carries beyond the barn.
A Lesson Program for Every Rider
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy horses — whether for recreation, education, or competition. That’s why our riding programs are flexible, age-appropriate, and structured around individual goals.
We offer:
- Beginner horseback riding lessons
- Youth and adult riding instruction
- English and hunter/jumper style lessons
- Private and small-group formats
- Structured safety practices for all levels

Our programs start with the fundamentals: how to safely approach, groom, tack, and lead a horse, followed by step-by-step mounted instruction. From your first ride to mastering more advanced techniques, we’re with you every step of the way.
What You'll Learn in Our Riding Lessons
Each lesson is carefully planned to help riders grow in skill, knowledge, and confidence. Depending on your level and goals, lessons may include:
- Mounting and dismounting

- Steering, stopping, and transitions
- Tacking up and basic horse care
- Arena patterns and riding exercises
- Understanding horse behavior and communication
We teach all students how to ride with both safety and kindness. Positive reinforcement is a key part of our approach — we help you become a confident rider by celebrating progress and learning through experience.

Intermediate and Returning Riders
For those with some experience, we offer lessons to brush up on technique, rebuild confidence, or work toward new goals in English riding, jumping, or horsemanship.
Our Facility
All lessons take place at our Greenwood farm, which features:

- A 60x150-foot indoor riding arena
- Outdoor training areas with varied footing
- A beginner riding circle for new riders
- Clean grooming and tacking stations
- Safe, calm horses suited to all experience levels
This environment allows us to hold lessons year-round, in all weather, and provide space to grow as a rider in a low-pressure, well-managed setting.
Meet the Horses and Instructors
Our riding horses are carefully selected for their temperament, training, and reliability. Each horse is matched to the student based on their comfort level and riding goals.

Lessons are led by our professional trainer, who has spent her life working in equine care and education. She brings years of experience and a deep understanding of both horses and riders. Her calm, clear teaching style helps students learn effectively while building trust with their horse.
Private and Group Lessons Available
We offer both private and small group riding lessons, depending on your preferences and schedule. Private sessions offer one-on-one attention and personalized feedback, while group lessons create opportunities to ride alongside peers and learn together.

Our scheduling is flexible, with lessons available Tuesday through Saturday.
